Dr. Jake Seongkeun Yoo has three dental degrees- DMD, DDS, and a PhD.

He obtained his DDS at the University of Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, CA.

Dr. Yoo has been delivering the highest quality patient care since 1999 after obtaining his DMD in South Korea.

Dr. Yoo obtained his PhD in orthodontics from Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU), world renowned as one of the most advanced dental schools in the world, particularly in orthodontics. While writing his PhD thesis, Dr. Yoo demonstrated his expertise by putting braces on rats (Duration of orthodontic force affecting initial response of nitric oxide synthase in rat periodontal ligaments, J Med Dent Sci 2004; 51: 83-88)!  

Even prior to his formal dental education, he was exposed to dentistry/orthodontics at an early age from his father, an esteemed orthodontist in South Korea. 

While most orthodontists have been trained for 2-3 years, Dr. Yoo has studied orthodontics both from a clinical and scientific perspective for 5.5 years, making him an expert in his field. During his time in Tokyo, he also trained at a premier orthodontic office, specializing in lingual orthodontics. 

Dr. Yoo is a member of many dental and orthodontic organizations, including American Dental Association, California Dental Association, American Association of Orthodontists, World Federation of Orthodontists, and many others.  Currently he serves as a board member of Mid-Peninsula Dental Society.  Furthermore, Dr. Yoo strives to be an orthodontist par excellence through his collaboration with Stanford's Plastic Reconstructive Surgery Division of the School of Medicine as a Seminar Creator for orthodontics.

In his spare time, Dr. Yoo enjoys baseball (go Giants!), kendo, photography, music and spending time with his wife, children, and friends.  He is also a member of the Palo Alto Rotary Club and attends Grace Presbyterian Church. He is also fluent in Japanese and Korean.
